Part of Hirono Borter's ongoing Reimagining Bach series, Muse explores new musical possibilities through a creative dialogue with the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. Drawing inspiration from the Prelude of Bach's Cello Suite No. 4 in E-flat Major, the work weaves newly composed material around Bach's original music, creating a serene and contemplative fusion of past and present.
Gentle and reflective in character, Muse unfolds as a meditation on Bach's timeless musical language. Inspired by the lyrical elegance and spiritual atmosphere of works such as Bach-Gounod's Ave Maria, the piece surrounds Bach's familiar Prelude with expressive new harmonies and melodies, allowing the original music to emerge in a fresh and luminous context.
