Galaxy is an original duo for violin and cello by Hirono Borter, inspired by Johann Sebastian Bach's celebrated Chaconnefrom the Partita No. 2 for Solo Violin. Part of Hirono's ongoing Reimagining Bach series, the work reinterprets Bach's music through a contemporary lens, blending classical counterpoint with modern harmonies, textures, and expressive colors.

Drawing on the architecture and spirit of the original Chaconne while forging a distinctly new musical path, Galaxy unfolds as a journey through shifting landscapes of sound—from moments of introspection and lyricism to passages of sweeping energy and brilliance.
